ABOUT US
SOS FEST is a performance showcase of new writing from Sheffield writers!
We premiered in March 2019 and brought you the best Steel City had to offer, our talented actors brought original scripts to life on stage in the Performance Lab. Ranging from hilariously comical to chillingly dark, our performances set to always keep the audience on their toes.
Our talented actors included Rebekah Austin, Barry Worthington, Christy Fitzsimons, James Gucc, Janice Sampson and Daisy Frossard. You can see them here.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE FESTIVAL
Melanie Hopkins is a student at Sheffield Hallam University, studying performance. She created this new writing festival in her final year.
The goal was to bring original Sheffield written plays and monologues to a semi-professional platform. With the help of public funding, she was able to do this. The event was held in the Performance Lab on the 14th of March 2019.

She also wanted to bridge the gap between seasoned actors and newcomers to the stage to share knowledge and passion of the stage. Some of the plays featured were original writing from Melanie herself.
